Sell Value Is Not Trade Value

Start with the honest part, because most pages like this one will not tell you. Merchant sell value is a C$ calculation the game performs, and that is what this checker compares. Player trade value is a different quantity that also depends on demand, availability, events, collectors and current trading behaviour, and no formula produces it. Anyone claiming otherwise is guessing with extra steps.

That does not make the comparison useless, it makes it a floor. If a fish sells to a merchant for 30,000 C$, nobody sensible trades it away for something worth 4,000, because they could simply sell it instead. Sell value is the number below which a trade stops making sense, and knowing the floor settles most offers on its own. What it will not tell you is how far above the floor a collector might go.

How to Check if a Fisch Trade Is Fair

Build both sides with the real weights, and set the mutation and attribute on every fish that carries them. That is the whole method, and skipping it is why most Fisch trade arguments happen: the same species at the same weight can be worth twelve times more with Aether on it, and the trade window does not shout about that. Then read the gap in C$ rather than the verdict above it.

After that, one judgement the tool cannot make. Weight is the honest half of a fish's value and mutations are the lottery half, so a heavy plain fish and a light mutated one can total the same and be very different assets. The mutated one is scarcer and harder to replace, which is exactly the sort of thing a collector pays over the odds for. If you are pricing a single catch rather than comparing two sides, the Fisch value calculator breaks it down properly.

What Makes a Fish Worth More Than Its Sell Price

Scarcity that the sell price does not capture. Aether appears at a 0.004% natural chance and Shiny and Sparkling each at 1% base, so a Shiny Sparkling Aether catch is not merely 44x the money, it is something almost nobody will ever hold. The merchant does not care and will pay the formula. A collector cares a great deal, and that gap is where the entire Fisch trading scene lives.

The reverse case is worth naming too. Since all Merchant Brothers locations pay identical rates and any fish can be sold instantly, a very ordinary catch has a hard, immediate cash floor and effectively no premium above it. Trading commons for commons is moving money between pockets. The trades worth thinking about involve something the formula prices low and the community prices high, which in practice means mutations and rare attributes rather than raw weight.

How to Trade Safely in Fisch

Check every fish in the window rather than the one being talked about, and read the weight on each, because weight is the easiest thing to misrepresent when nobody is looking closely. A fish described by species alone has told you nothing: the same name covers a huge range of money.

Then treat any pressure as information. A fair trade survives being checked, so somebody who needs an answer immediately is telling you the numbers do not hold up. And never complete a deal in halves or outside the game's own trade flow, since nothing recovers a fish that has already changed hands. Build the offer here, look at the gap, and let them wait the thirty seconds. Cross-check anything surprising against the Fisch value list before you accept.

Fisch Trade Checker FAQ

Does this compare sell values or trade values?

Sell values, in C$, calculated the way the game calculates them. Treat the result as the floor a trade should clear rather than as what a collector would pay, since player trade value also depends on demand, availability and events.

Do I need to enter weight and mutation?

Yes, for both sides. Weight sets the base amount and one mutation can multiply it up to twelvefold, so a comparison made on species names alone will be wrong more often than right.

Why is a mutated fish worth more than the totals suggest?

Because scarcity is not in the formula. Aether occurs at a 0.004% natural chance and Shiny and Sparkling at 1% each, so a heavily mutated fish is far harder to replace than its sell price implies, and collectors price it accordingly.

Is it worth trading rather than selling?

Only when the other side has something the formula underprices. Any fish can be sold instantly at identical rates at every merchant, so an ordinary catch has a hard cash floor and little premium. Mutations and rare attributes are where trading beats selling.

Someone is rushing me to accept. Should I?

No. A fair trade is still fair in a minute, so urgency is the clearest signal that the numbers will not survive being checked. Build both sides here first.

Can I share the result with the other player?

Yes. Copying the link from your address bar sends both sides exactly as you built them, weights and mutations included.
